RIL defying court order, says RNRL

We're Moving SC Against HC Judgment: RIL

New Delhi: After Mukesh Ambani-controlled RIL on Tuesday refused to sign a gas supply agreement without government's approval, Anil Ambani-led RNRL on Wednesday accused RIL of "deliberately and wantonly'' defying the Bombay high court and delaying the implementation of the order.
"Your unjust contention that government approval is required for price, quantity and tenure has been expressly and unequivocally rejected by the court,'' RNRL said in a letter to RIL on Wednesday, sources said. This is the fourth letter written by RNRL to RIL since the June 15 court order, which asked RIL to settle the issue with RNRL on gas supply.
In a response to RNRL's Wednesday's letter, RIL, it is learnt, said, "We do not concur with your interpretation of the findings in the said judgment and the order dated June 15, 2009 and, therefore, the question of deliberately, wantonly or otherwise
defying the implementation of the order of the Hon'ble Court does not arise.''
"We have been advised to and are filling appropriate proceedings in the Supreme Court against the judgment delivered by the Bombay high court on June 15, 2009,'' the RIL's reply said.
Sources indicated that RIL would move the Supreme Court on July 6 when it re
opens after vacation. Apprehending this, RNRL had on June 19 filed a caveat before the SC to guard against any ex parte hearing. RIL, in a letter on Tuesday, had said: "We cannot sign any agreement without the approval of the government on price, quantity and tenure''. The letter had further said that the company was still in the process of legal consultation.
